Welcome to the Reading Families’ Forum website
Reading Families’ Forum (RFF) is an independent charity run by and for families of disabled children and young adults aged 0 – 25 years. We are Reading’s local parent carer forum and are part of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums.
We work to ensure that local parent carers and young people with additional needs co-produce local services that they use. Co-production means that families are at the heart of discussions, giving their views and experiences about what is needed and setting priorities. Our Trustees and Steering Group attend the local Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND) Strategy Group, various working groups as part of Reading’s SEND Strategy and the SEND Joint Implementation Group with Local Authority and health professionals.
If you or your child lives in one of Reading's neighbouring Local Authorities, your local parent carer forum information for Wokingham, West Berkshire or Oxfordshire is below.
Membership is free and open to all parents, guardians and family carers of a child or young person (aged 0-25) with SEN and/or disability living in the Reading Borough Council area. The more members we have the more influence we have with local services.
Come and talk to service providers about your views at our coffee evenings or attend our information days to find out about services. Young people with additional needs aged 8 – 25 years can attend our Special United events to give their views.
Are you passionate about working with service providers to improve local services for children with additional needs and have an hour or two per month to volunteer? Join our supportive and friendly Trustee group to help plan our work.
