Brighter Futures for Children School Transport Consultation

Reading Families Forum is aware of the concerns of a number of families regarding the School Transport Consultation and the impact of the proposed new policy on pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities.

RFF met with Brian Grady, Director of Education, and Roxanna Glennon, SEND Strategic Lead on 29th February to discuss this and further meetings will take place in the coming weeks.  Brian Grady has assured us that there will be no significant or immediate changes to school transport for children with EHCPs and that any future policy for school transport will be coproduced with RFF to ensure the policy is in line with statutory guidance and legislation and to ensure the perspectives of Reading families are considered. RFF will continue to update families as we have more information.

We encourage families to continue to contact us with your concerns and to respond to the consultation, which closes on 29th March.

Reading Families’ Forum (RFF) is an independent charity run by and for families of disabled children and young adults aged 0 – 25 years. We are Reading’s local parent carer forum and are part of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums. We work to ensure that local parent carers and young people with additional needs have a voice about the local services that they use.
